The director of the University of Michigan’s Prevention Research Center likens President Obama’s executive order calling for more background checks before someone can buy a gun to laws requiring people to obey traffic signals.
Marc Zimmerman, who is also professor of health behavior at U of M, calls it a common sense public safety issue and doesn’t understand why anyone would complain about it.
The executive order would require people undergo a background check before they could buy a gun at a gun show or online.
Gun rights advocates however don’t think the executive order will do much to stop another mass shooting in the United States while others say the president is overextending his reach.
