U of M Prof Says Pope Visit to U.S. Could be Most Watched Papal Tour

A University of Michigan history professor and expert on Catholicism, Brian Porter-Szücs, believes Pope Frances’ visit to the United States this week could be one of the most watched papal visits in recent memory.

He says that’s because non-Catholics are just as interested as Catholics in what the pope has to say – if not more interested.

Porter-Szücs says that’s due, in part, to the pope’s tolerance on some issues which gives him broader appeal.

In fact, Porter-Szücs says Pope Francis may be the most beloved pope among non-Catholics.

The pope is visiting Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.
