Two Houghton Automotive Students Place In Top Three At U.P. Competition

The Copper Country Intermediate School District has approved their annual budget for 2016-17.

The District Board of Education did so at their monthly meeting this week, following a public hearing on the budget.

The board also got an update from Career and Technical Education Director Shawn Kolbus on how well students did at the Automotive Students Skills Challenge, held at Northern Michigan University.

Two local students placed 2nd and 3rd in the U.P.—Matt Garland and Owen LaReaux respectively, both from Houghton High School.

Also, every student who recently took the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Student Certification exam passed.
