Two DEQ Officials Suspended For Their Role In Flint's Water Crisis

A pair of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality officials have been suspended in the wake of the Flint water crisis.

The two, who have not been named, were involved in Flint water testing.

Governor Rick Snyder, in a statement, says there were some actions within the DEQ that lacked what he calls common sense, which he says resulted in Flint’s water crisis.

The two are the first state employees to be suspended for their role in the crisis.

DEQ director Dan Wyant resigned in late December as did a spokesperson for the agency, while two other DEQ employees were reassigned to other agencies within state government.

An investigation is underway into the two officials. The probe could last a few weeks.
