A man and woman are dead after their motorcycle was struck by a Ryder truck yesterday afternoon in Ishpeming. Ishpeming Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and U.S. 41 around 1:20 p.m. Police say when they arrived on scene both driver and his female passenger were deceased. The preliminary report indicates that a Ryder truck was heading westbound on U.S. 41 when it collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle heading eastbound after attempting to make a left turn on to South Lakeshore Drive. Police say the truck appeared to pull into their path while the light was still green. The 19-year-old truck driver was taken to Bell Hospital for minor injuries. The names of the two victims who passed away as a result of the accident are not being released at this time. There is no word as to whether or not the riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
