Turkey Hunting Season Begins April 18th

Monday is opening day of the hunting season.  No, despite the weather it’s not November, but April 18th is the first day of Wild Turkey hunting in Michigan.

DNR Wildlife Biologist John DePue says the sport is becoming increasingly more popular in the Upper Peninsula.

While the population of many game species is struggling as of late in the U.P., turkeys seem to be doing much better.

Spring turkey season lasts until May 31st. The fall season takes place September 15th through November 14th.

Licenses are awarded through lottery with any left over tags available for sale over the counter.
