If you’re out hunting, fishing or trapping and a tribal conservation officer approaches you and asks to see your license, a new law in Michigan says you must present it.
State Senator Tom Casperson sponsored the legislation which was recently signed into law by Governor Rick Snyder.
Casperson said this portion was overlooked in an agreement reached with tribal groups over ten years ago.
Refusing to do so wouldn’t involve being charged with a crime, but Casperson said simply identifying yourself to the officer would save a lot of trouble.
Snyder signed the bill earlier this month.
