Trial Pending For U.P. Man Accused Of Shooting Troopers

The Upper Peninsula man arrested in a shooting that injured two Michigan State Police troopers last month has been bound over for trial.

49-year-old Richard Goodreau of Norway is charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to murder, malicious destruction of police property and a felony firearm charge. He faces life in prison.

State Police at the Iron Mountain Post say the officers were attempting to serve a warrant at Goodreau’s home at the time of the shooting. The troopers were fired upon after entering the home.

Goodreau waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday and is due in Dickinson County Circuit Court on March 10.

He is still lodged in the Dickinson County jail on a $1 million bond.
