A fire and an extraction on consecutive nights ensured this past weekend will be one the members of the North Country Snowmobile Club in Ontonagon never forget. Through the eventful stretch, the group was able to stay in the right frame of mind, channeling Bruce Willis’ Detective John McClane on a video showing their equipment stuck on an icy hill Saturday.
“Be a groomer,” they said. “It will be fun,” they said.”
With roughly a mile left to groom on the Lake of the Clouds Trail Friday night, the club’s New Holland quad track groomer became completely engulfed in flames.
Luckily, the operator was able to get out uninjured. The machine is a total loss, though. The club has started a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for its replacement.
