The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run kicked off in the Copper Country yesterday. Keweenaw County Sheriff Ron Lahti again ran the first five-mile stretch, beginning at noon in Copper Harbor. In Eagle Harbor, team co-captain Stephen Salladay said it’s all about raising money and awareness for Michigan Special Olympics… SALLADAY. Salladay is a corrections officer from Osceola County. Runners from police agencies will take turns around the clock until they finish the 750-mile route in suburban Detroit on Friday. If they’re on schedule, they’re well past L’Anse, and on their way to Marquette. Please watch for them if you’re making that trip on US-41. Donations are collected through the FirstGiving website.
