Michigan is doing its part to find new uses for old vehicle tires.
The Department of Environmental Quality says nearly $3 million in grants will help county road commissions recycle the scrap tires for road repairs and other projects.
The grants will help support Governor Rick Snyder’s goal to double the state’s residential recycling rate to 30 percent.
