The Keweenaw Family Resource Center Welcomes Fathers into the 24:7 Dad Program

Father figures play large roles in the lives of children. Over the past few months, the Keweenaw Family Resource Center has hosted Dad Cafés in the region to bring together fathers and talk about parenting challenges and growth. Soon the Resource Center plans to host a more thorough course for fathers called 24:7 Dad. The 12-session workshop will give dads the parenting, relationship, and communication skills needed to become involved, responsible, and committed figures in their child’s life. The program is open to all father figures in the community and will take place on Wednesday evenings at the KFRC offices inside Trinity Episcopal Church. The program, which was designed by parenting experts, is the most widely used and evidence-based program working specifically with dads. The program focuses on characteristics of men, such as masculinity, discipline, and work-family balance, to help fathers evaluate their parenting skills, and grow as role models. The first program session for 24:7 Dad with the Keweenaw Family Resource Center will start on September 18th. Those interested in registering for the program or have questions about 24:7 Dad can find more details and contact information below.

The program is open to all fathers and father figures, and will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning at 5:30pm on September 18th at the KFRC Offices at Trinity Episcopal Church, 205 East Montezuma, Houghton, MI. There is no cost to attend the program and includes a light meal, and childcare is available if needed. If transportation assistance is needed please ask. To register, call Kevin at (906) 482-9363.
