The Calumet Lions’ Hunters and Sportsman’s Dinner Will Support Education Scholarships and Work in the Community

Archery season has started, and various specialized hunting seasons have already taken place. But opening day for deer rifle hunting will be here before you know it. Just in time for Michigan’s hunters, the Calumet Lions Club will host the group’s 19th annual Hunters and Sportsmen dinner. The meal acts as a fundraiser for Calumet Lions and helps the group continue to support educational scholarships and work within the community.

“We contribute to the Calumet Hockey Association and Calumet High School Robotics. We are a part of the Michigan Leader Dog Program. And we have sight and hearing-impaired assistance for our local community. And we also donate to the Omega House. Our two main projects for the year are will give two, 2,000 dollars scholarships to a Calumet High School senior. And we take care of our Calumet Lyon’s Park, which is located here in Calumet. That is used throughout the year by many different community events.” Karen LaBonte, President, Calumet Lion’s Club

Dinner will have a variety of tasty options, including chicken, shrimp, or roast beef. During the dinner, attendees will have opportunities to participate in different firearm auctions. For those hunters more apt to go bow hunting, or are not big hunters, can take a chance on other prizes like hotel stays in Appleton and Marquette.

“We have one round-trip ticket for the Isle Royale Sea Planes. Several different gift certificates and baskets, and several different restaurants we have certificates too. I believe, a night stay at Dapple Gray in Eagle River. Several different things like that.” – Karen LaBonte, President, Calumet Lion’s Club

The Calumet Lions Club Hunters and Sportsmen’s dinner takes place on October 12th. Tickets for the fundraising event are 55 dollars, and the event starts at 6 p.m. The dinner will take place at the Calumet National Guard Readiness Center.
