Tech Researchers Study Fruit Flies In Search Of Cancer Cure

Research happening at Michigan Tech University on fruit flies could lead to breakthroughs in cancer research.

Thomas Werner, an assistant professor of biological sciences, is leading the study and says there’s a link between cancer genes and the coloring of fruit flies – different genes cause different colors on the flies stomach.

The next step is figuring out which cancer drugs may interact with each cancer gene, which would be evident by the coloring associated with that gene going away.
