Survey Says Motorists Fear Self Driving Cars

Only one in five Americans trust an autonomous vehicle to drive itself, according to a AAA survey.

And three out of four U.S. drivers report feeling afraid to ride in a self-driving car.

But that doesn’t mean Americans are shying away from high tech cars.

Seventy-five percent say they’re more likely to trust cars equipped with semi-autonomous features.

AAA says it suggests that gradual experience with the advanced features can ease consumer fears.

The survey also found that consumer demand for semi-autonomous vehicle technology is high.

Sixty-one percent of American drivers report wanting at least one of the following technologies on their next vehicle: automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, self-parking technology or lane-keeping assist.
