The Superior Health Foundation’s Executive director Jim LaJoie plans to retire. Today the foundation announced that will begin a search for a new executive director following LaJoie’s retirement from the non-profit sector this spring. LaJoie served as the Superior Health Foundation’s Executive director for several years, starting with the foundation in 2012. Under his leadership, the Superior Health Foundation was awarded more than 7.1 million dollars in health-related grants across the Upper Peninsula, established dozens of relationships and collaborations with other non-profits in the region, and led the charge on three successful annual fundraising events that raised more than 1.3 million dollars.
LaJoie says he has had a wonderful career since starting in 2004 as the Marquette General Foundation’s planned giving officer. Adding that he will miss the many people he has worked with over the years, and thanks the community for countless life-long relationships he’s built. President of the Superior Health Foundation, Sara Giles expressed the organization’s regret to see LaJoie leave, however adding that the foundation wishes him the best in retirement.
LaJoie intends to remain an active member of the Upper Peninsula non-profit community in his retirement as he has agreed to help several regional organizations. Although he adds he does still plan to hit the links on the golf course and spend time with family. LaJoie’s retirement will begin in May.
