Legislation that would create a student online personal protection act in Michigan could see action in the Senate Education committee next week.
The act would prohibit student information from being used for targeted ads, building a profile or sold.
Senate Republican Phil Pavlov (PAHV-low) of St. Clair, says data is being collected everyday on students and there should be safeguards in place to protect that information from being released.
The bill would prohibit the use of a student’s personal information except when required by law or for legitimate research.
