U-S Congressman Dan Kildee will introduce legislation soon he hopes will help people buried under student debt.
One of his bills will make scholarships and grants exempt from being taxed.
Another one of Kildee’s bills will prohibit lenders from collecting on the entirety of a loan if the cosigner dies.
A third will allow someone to shed their student loan debt if they file for bankruptcy.
Kildee is hoping to round up bi-partisan support for the bills.
He says creating a better way for people to afford a college education should be something both Republicans and Democrats want.
Lawmakers are currently on break; they return to Capitol Hill in September.
