Storm Relief Fund Established

The Portage Health Foundation has established a fund to which money may be donated to assist in relief efforts following Sunday’s storms.

The Houghton County Flood Relief Fund will receive and hold monies. Disbursement will be overseen by the Portage Health Foundation Board of Directors, with input from the Houghton County Emergency Response leadership. All monies contributed will be used to support humanitarian relief and recovery efforts that are not covered by other sources, including potential federal funds.

“There are a lot of people from our municipalities, community health agencies and organizations,
utility companies, and the community at large that are working hard to mitigate and assess damages
as we recover from this most recent flood.” said Kevin Store, executive director of the Portage Health
Foundation. “We are simply trying to find a way to best support their efforts and work with folks who
are concerned and would like to make a contribution to those efforts.”

Contributions can made online here, or mailed to: Portage Health Foundation, 400 Quincy Street, Hancock, Michigan 49930. Donors are asked to please follow the online instructions and put “FLOOD RELIEF” in the comments section of your contribution so it can be properly recorded and allocated to flood relief efforts. If
sending a check, please put Flood Relief in the memo line.
