State Senate To Look At House's DPS Bill

The state Senate is expected to vote this week on a financial rescue plan for Detroit Public Schools.

Wendy Zdeb is the executive director of the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, while at the Mackinac Policy Conference, said the Detroit Education Commission, which was left off the House bill, is essential for a plan like this to succeed.

The House-backed plan gives DPS a $617 million lifeline, which got zero support from Detroit legislators.
