State Senate Minority Leader Not Happy With Snyder's Congressional Testimony on Flint Water Crisis

A Flint lawmaker says Governor Rick Snyder continued to not take responsibility for the Flint water crisis during a congressional hearing Thursday.

The governor told the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that he didn’t react to the spike in lead levels in Flint’s water until October 2015 because he wasn’t told by federal or state environmental officials about the problem.

But Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich, D-Flint, says the only thing the Environmental Protection Agency failed to do was come in earlier to tell the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to do its job.

Ananich says for Snyder to blame the EPA as if it shares the same responsibility as those that caused the problem is offensive. He says 99-percent of the responsibility of the Flint water crisis falls on Governor Snyder.
