The state is holding an informational meeting tonight for beef and dairy cattle producers concerned about bovine tuberculosis.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recently confirmed a small beef herd in Alcona County tested positive for bovine TB.
Department spokeswoman, Jennifer Holton, says the herd is the 62nd to test positive for bovine TB in Michigan since 1998 and the 2nd in 2015.
Holton says a meeting is being held in Barton City to inform producers about the disease and steps they can take to protect their herds.
Bovine TB is an infections bacterial disease that primarily affects cattle, but can be spread between wildlife populations.
