Governor Gretchen Whitmer wants to put back into the Michigan budget some of what she cut out of the Michigan budget.
Supplemental spending bills introduced into the Senate yesterday would restore $34 million for rural hospitals and $11 million for road patrols, along with money for veteran services, literacy coaches, IT support and services for those with autism.
Meanwhile, Republicans have also introduced bills that would, among other things, reinstate funding for isolated school districts.
Whitmer met with Republican House Speaker Lee Chatfield and Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey yesterday. Both sides described the session as productive. Another sit-down is planned for Tuesday.
