Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the COVID-19 State of Emergency in Michigan through at least August 11th.
Citing the increase in cases over the past several weeks, Whitmer said the novel coronavirus remains a real threat to the state.
The increase in Michigan reflects a national trend.
She also noted that, to have any hope of schools reopening for in-person learning this fall, Michiganders must follow the order to wear masks over our mouths and noses when in public.
More than 6,000 Michigan residents have died because of the pandemic.
