Water Management Plan Released By State

State officials have released the final part of a long-term plan for managing and protecting Michigan’s water resources.

The Department of Environmental Quality’s Office of the Great Lakes says the Michigan Water Strategy makes 75 recommendations to fix issues.

The fourth and final section focuses on developing systems to monitor waterways and groundwater use.

Another suggestion is to find ways to step up cooperation among state agencies, communities and native tribes, including establishing a Michigan Interdepartmental Water Team.

One of the next steps would be to develop outreach and education initiatives as well as track progress.
