Using A Debit Card To Teach College Students How To Handle Money

It’s almost time for the kids to go back to school, and for some, they’re heading off to college.

How should you help with handling money?

Flagstar Bank corporate affairs & quality director, Beth Correa, says the student should have a debit card, if they don’t already.

Correa advises a $50 to $100 cushion in the account.

She does not think college kids should have credit cards, but says if they get one, make sure it has a limit of $300 to $500 and they pay it off every month.
