An Upper Peninsula man is facing an attempted murder charge after an alleged assault over the weekend.
23-year-old Ryan Joseph Philipps was arrested Sunday and lodged in the Menominee County Jail on charges of assault with intent to murder as well as attempted murder.
Authorities say Philipps struck a 23-year-old man with an SUV after the two had an argument over a $140 debt.
Witnesses say they saw Philipps leaving the paved driveway and driving on to the front lawn of the residence, and intentionally striking the victim with the front of the SUV, and running him over. Philipps then reportedly fled the scene in the vehicle.
The victim was taken to Saint Vincent’s hospital in Green Bay where he remains in intensive care but is listed in stable condition.
Philipps surrendered to the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday and was arraigned Monday in 95A District Court.
He bond has been set at $250,000.
