Trump Vote Challenge Tossed; James Won’t Concede

The first legal challenge of Michigan’s election by the Donald Trump campaign didn’t get very far.

Yesterday, Court of Claims Judge Cynthia Stephens dismissed a lawsuit which demanded that ballot counting be stopped. Stephens said the case was based on a “hearsay affidavit that… is not first-hand knowledge.”

She ruled that the case would have little chance of succeeding on its merits.

Attorneys for the state argued that the relief the Trump campaign requested – stopping the ballot count – was moot, because the count was already basically complete.

With more than 99 percent of ballots counted, former Vice President Joe Biden leads Trump by nearly 150,000 votes.

Meanwhile, Republican senate candidate John James is still refusing to concede the race to Democrat Gary Peters.

Peters has a 75,000-vote margin.

James issued a statement saying that he has “deep concerns that millions of Michiganders may have been disenfranchised by a dishonest few who cheat.” He has not provided any evidence to back up his claim.

Peters told reporters yesterday that James has now lost twice in two years, and he understands why that doesn’t sit well with him.
