The Donald Trump presidential campaign has officially filed a lawsuit to prevent Michigan’s election results from being certified.
The federal action was filed in the Western District of Michigan. It targets Wayne County and the Michigan Secretary of State.
In a release from the Trump 2020 campaign, general counsel Matt Morgan said “numerous reports” they have heard from “credible witnesses of Michigan’s election processes are alarming.”
The release says the suit relies on affidavits from witnesses who say they saw election officials counting ineligible ballots, counting batches of the same ballots multiple times, counting illegal late ballots and pre-dating them, accepting ballots deposited in drop boxes after the deadline, and duplicating ballots illegally.
It also alleges that Wayne County used faulty ballot tabulators that miscounted votes for President Trump as votes for the Biden-Harris ticket.
The Trump 2020 Campaign is asking the court to halt the ballot certification process until the state and Wayne County can confirm that ballots were legally cast and tabulated.
Previous legal actions brought by the Trump 2020 Campaign in Michigan have been dismissed.
