Truck Collides With Train

UPDATE:

Danforth Road in Delta County is now open after it was closed following a collision between a truck and a train.

41-year-old Adam LaFave out of Escanaba was treated and released from UP Health System—Marquette.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post say LaFave was driving a dump truck pulling a flat bed down a slope on Danforth Road in Well’s Township on Thursday.

A Canadian National train was going through the crossing at that time. The red crossing lights, gate, and audio signals were activated.

LaFave collided with the train causing some of the cars to derail.

He was taken to the hospital by Life Flight and released Saturday.

Part of a road in Delta County remains closed Friday morning after a collision between a truck and a train.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post were dispatched to the scene at Danforth Road and the railroad crossing just west of 19th Avenue in Wells Township just before 3:00pm Thursday.

Authorities say a dump truck pulling a flat bed was traveling east on Danforth down a slope.

A Canadian National train was crossing the road, traveling north, with the red crossing lights, gate, and audio tone at the railroad crossing activated.

The dump truck was unable to stop and crashed into the side of the train, causing some of the rail cars to derail.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital by Life Flight.

The crash remains under investigation and no further details were released.
