New research from the University of Michigan shows using a touch screen to order food could lead to more unhealthy eating.
The co-authors of five studies on the subject found that an iPad-like touch interface with menus leads people to make more hedonistic food choices over more healthful ones.
They say reaching out to touch a picture of food on a screen is similar to what goes on in your head when you pick up that food.
Some restaurants, including Applebee’s and Chili’s, have touch screens for customer orders.
