Teachers and other school employees will be in front of courthouses, post offices and in parks across Michigan today protesting a move by the Governor to appeal a court ruling regarding retiree health care deductions.
Those protesting are members of the American Federation of Teachers Michigan and the Michigan Education Association.
Organizers say the courts have sided with the teachers and the Governor should give money taken from the paychecks back.
On average, the teachers are owed $4,000.
Governor Snyder appealed to the state Supreme Court last month even though Attorney General Bill Schuette has declined to provide legal counsel for the appeal.
Protests are scheduled in Escanaba, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Marquette, Mt. Pleasant, Traverse City, Southfield and Detroit.
