Michiganders overwhelmingly approve of the job Governor Gretchen Whitmer is doing to try to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
A survey just released by the Democracy Fund and UCLA Nationscape Project showed that 63 percent of Michigan residents agree with the governor’s actions. Only 31 percent disapprove.
The poll was taken between June 11th and July 15th, and has an error margin of 5 percent.
The poll also shows that 41 percent of Michiganders approve of the job President Donald Trump has done with the pandemic.
62 percent of Michigan residents don’t think we should open K-12 schools and universities this fall. Just 30 percent believe schools should reopen.
Several large downstate school districts have already announced that they will begin the upcoming school year with online instruction, including Ann Arbor and Lansing. Grand Rapids has also applied for permission to begin the year with remote instruction.
92 percent of Michiganders said they had worn a mask when venturing outside their homes in the week before they were asked, but 38 percent admitted they didn’t always follow social distancing rules.
64 percent support closing businesses where large numbers of people gather, such as theaters and bars.
