Governor Rick Snyder has activated Michigan’s Emergency Operations Center in order to monitor the aftermath of the high wind event Tuesday in some areas of Michigan.
An estimated nearly 650,000 homes and businesses lost electricity when winds whipped across the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula.
Snyder says utility companies have called in more crews to help get electricity restored.
Michigan State Police are compiling damage reports, and troopers are assisting residents across the state.
He also thanked everyone for their hard work keeping residents safe.
