Six men have been indicted by a federal grand jury for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to kidnap the Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta each face up to life in prison if convicted. Fox, Garbin, Franks, Harris, and Caserta are residents of Michigan. Croft is a resident of Delaware.
The six were charged and arrested in October, but federal law requires that such cases must be presented to a grand jury for indictments. All remain in custody.
Another eight men face state charges relating to the plot.
Officials say the men were planning to kidnap Whitmer at her vacation home in the northern Lower Peninsula, mount an attack on the state capitol, and produce televised “mock trials” of Whitmer and other law enforcement officials.
