This telephone scam involves a caller portraying a grandchild in trouble and needing bond money.
Authorities say people have been tricked into sending large amounts of money or gift cards to pay for the bogus bond.
The callers target senior citizens and know how to upset residents and make their calls sound like an emergency situation or an embarrassing situation.
Police say people should never give out personal information over the phone or send money of any kind without first checking with your local police or sheriff department.
