Legislation to repeal Michigan’s prevailing wage law has been introduced in Lansing.
Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, along with Senators Dave Robertson of Grand Blanc and Pete MacGregor of Rockford, say the prevailing wages laws are an unnecessary burden on schools and local communities and it doesn’t make sense that taxpayers have to pay more for improvements to schools and city buildings.
Current state law requires all construction companies who work on a government worksite to pay employees union scale wages.
