New Home Construction Expected To Be Up

Construction workers throughout Michigan are expected to be busy this year, but there are some concerns.

A report from the Home Builders Association of Michigan predicts single-family home construction will increase four-percent this year compared with 2016 with an estimated 16,500 home permits issued.

Last year nearly 16,000 home permits were issued, the highest level in ten years.

Home Builders Association of Michigan Chief Executive Officer Bob Filka says home building growth will continue at a steady clip, but a lack of skilled workers and rising building costs are creating challenges for the industry.
