More Funding For Low-Income Students Called For

State Superintendent Brian Whiston has called for legislative action to help improve the funding needs for Michigan schools, based on the findings of a state-funded Education Finance Study.

The study shows a disparity in funding between school districts in Michigan, as well as the effects of poverty on a child’s education.

It also finds the need to invest more to help low-income children and English language learners.
