For the first time this year, Michigan’s unemployment rates has increased.
A report from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget shows the September unemployment rate at 4.6 percent.
That’s up one-tenth of a percent from August.
Administrators say the increase was due to more people seeking work.
Total employment rose by 11,000, but the number of unemployed jumped by 4,000.
Job gains were reported in education and health services while there were job cuts in the financial activities sector.
