Michigan’s unemployment rate has dropped to 4.5 percent, the lowest in 15 years.
The jobs report shows most of the job gains in July were in manufacturing, government, professional and business services and education and health services.
Job losses were reported in the trade, transportation and utilities industries.
Jason Palmer with the state Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives says payroll jobs have increased during the year, with Michigan averaging 8,000 job gains per month.
