Michigan Recount Could Cost Millions

Re-counting nearly 4.8 million votes across all 83 counties in Michigan would cost more than the original estimated amount.

State Republican party chair Ronna Romney McDaniel says officials and county clerks have done the math.

State law dictates Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein is required to pay $125 per precinct for costs associated with the recount, which amounts to just under $790,000 dollars for a recount of every Michigan precinct.

Any cost above the $125 per precinct paid for by Stein’s fundraising efforts would be incurred by the counties.
