Several top figures in the state of Michigan have come forward indicating a wariness about efforts to restrict immigration.
Among those are Governor Rick Snyder, Snyder’s economic development director, top management at Ford and General Motors, and the Michigan Farm Bureau.
Word from many economic experts is that the president’s immigration policies and restrictions could hurt Michigan over the long term by reducing the workforce and population growth needed to fuel the state’s economic recovery.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has offered his support for the temporary ban on citizens from seven Muslim countries being able to enter the United States.
His Facebook post was an apparent rebuttal to people urging him to join 16 other state attorneys general in opposing the ban.
The 16 are all Democrats. Schuette is a Republican.
