Mackinaw Bridge Pass System Switching to Window Decals

The Mackinac Bridge Authority has officially begun its phase-out of MacPass toll cards.

The MacPass system will remain in place, but the cards are being replaced with window stickers. The stickers will be read electronically as your vehicle passes through the toll booth, with no need to roll down your window, and scan a card.

The current cards can remain in use until the end of 2020. After that, only the stickers will be recognized.

Drivers who cross the bridge frequently are encouraged to use the MacPass system. Passenger car accounts can be opened for $87, of which $80 is put on account for tolls, with $7 as a one-time setup fee. Passenger cars using MacPass that pay for one trip across the bridge are not charged for a return trip made within the next 36 hours.

MacPass is the only automated payment system in use at the Mackinac Bridge. Get more information here

The Mackinac Bridge was closed for several hours yesterday, because of falling ice.
