Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes will be hosting Annual Meeting of their Board of Directors and Delegates on Saturday April 6th, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Recreation Lanes (Antoine Room) in Iron Mountain, Michigan. There will be an evening reception at 6:00 p.m. at the same location the night before on Friday, April 5 where new CEO Karmen Lemke will welcome the community, board members, donors and delegates with a brief message about the future of Girl Scouts in their community.
The Annual Meeting on Saturday will feature key note speaker, Cassie Brown, Coordinator for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion for Multicultural Programs at UW Superior. In addition, there will be the election of officers, governance report, and highest awards presentations for Gold Award Girl Scouts and volunteer recognitions. An interactive project for an art installation in tribute to the Girl Scout lives lost in the tragic events in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin last November will also take place.
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes visits at a key time when the organization is highlighting the positive outcomes and importance of an all-girl environment. The Girl Scouts have a well-documented history of ground-breaking leadership development for girls and young women with programming adapted to meet the needs and challenges for girls today. The Council, which extends from Wisconsin’s Green Bay Metro area to Western Eau Claire also serves 1,862 girls and 638 adult volunteers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
