Former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Charles Levin has died. Levin served on the high court for more than two decades, before retiring in 1996, always running as an independent.
Current Chief Justice Bridget McCormack said Levin’s legacy “is marked by great scholarship, independence, compassion, and courage.”
Levin was a cousin to former U.S. Senator Carl Levin, former U.S. Representative and gubernatorial candidate Sander Levin, and current U.S. Representative Andy Levin.
He passed away yesterday at age 94.
