A new report out today says more than 45-million cars and trucks that have been the target of recalls are still on the road and haven’t been fixed.
The analysis of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by J.D. Power shows most people take their cars in for repairs when the recall has to do with their vehicle’s powertrain, electrical or brakes system.
Airbags and suspension issues have the lowest completion rates.
In addition, people with older model cars and trucks usually skip recalls.
Analysts say, along with inaction by the owners, the record number of recalls and parts shortages also play a part in people not getting their vehicles repaired.
