State Lawmakers Make Working Weekend Out Of CopperDog Trip

The Copperdog 150 draws spectators from around the country–and it is also a can’t-miss event for the state’s leaders.

Dianda Legislative ForumNearly three dozen lawmakers and support staff from Lansing made the trip with State Representative Scott Dianda in a chartered bus.

Several of them got together Saturday at the Great Lakes Research Center to hear presentations on issues that are important in the Upper Peninsula.

Topics included moving forward with Michigan Tech’s vision of the MICare Center for health care education and research, investing in forest biomaterials, an update on the MTEC Smartzone and supporting the Copperpeak ski jump.

Dianda hopes that this trip will help these representatives understand the local needs when they return to their duties at the capitol.

The lawmakers didn’t work all weekend long, they took plenty of time to enjoy the sled dog race before heading back to Lansing.
