State Lawmaker Calls for Investigation of Planned Parenthood

A state lawmaker is calling for an investigation into Planned Parenthood following an undercover video of a Planned Parenthood staff member seemingly pricing body parts.

The sale of body parts in the U.S. is illegal. But Planned Parenthood says that’s not what is being discussed in the video.

It says they were talking about reimbursement levels for patients who donate tissue, which is not illegal.

Regardless, state Senator Phil Pavlov (PAV-loh) wants the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to investigate to make sure Planned Parenthood is not selling body parts for profit in the state.

Planned Parenthood says the investigation is unwarranted because it does not offer fetal tissue donation in Michigan.
