State Holding Open House About Torch Lake Environmental Recovery Work

The community is invited to an open house sponsored by the Michigan Departments of Environmental Quality, Natural Resources, and Health and Human Services to discuss the status of the Upper Peninsula’s Torch Lake, a federally designated Area of Concern.

The event is today at the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School Auditorium.

From 5-6:30 p.m., subject experts from the departments will be available to answer questions from the public.

From 6-8:30 p.m., subject experts will offer presentations detailing health and environmental issues surrounding the lakes. Topics include:
· A Look at the Past: Overview of the Torch Lake Area of Concern
· A Plan for the Future: The Value of Developing a Watershed Plan
· Throw Out a Line: Learn About the Local Fisheries
· Eat the Fish: Learn About Choosing and Eating Safer Fish from Torch Lake and Nearby Waters
· Hit the Beach: Learn About Torch Lake Area Beaches and Public Health
